A resident of Kishangarh in Rajasthan’s Ajmer district, Anurag Maloo had, in 2022, scaled Mount Ama Dablam, in the Eastern Himalayan range in Nepal. According to reports, he has been planning to scale Mount Everest, Annapurna and Lhotse in the coming mountaineering season.
New Delhi: Missing Indian climber Anurag Maloo was rescued on Monday, three days after he went missing while trying to attempt scaling Mount Annapurna in Nepal. Maloo went missing on April 17, while attempting to scale Mount Annapurna, the 10th-highest mountain in the world. He was found by a team of Nepalese mountaineers in a crevasse 300 meters deep and located at 6000 metres. Maloo is reportedly in critical condition.
“Maloo is currently at Manipal Hospital under doctors’ supervision,” Mingma Sherpa from Seven Summit Treks was quoted as saying by news agency ANI. According to reports, Maloo was descending from Camp IV. He fell into a deep crevasse and was missing since then.
“He is found alive. He has been taken to the hospital in critical condition, but he is still alive,” Sudhir Maloo, his brother, told news agency PTI. “We will have to shift our focus towards the medical side now,” he further added.

On a mission to climb all the 14 8000-meter plus peaks and seven summits, Maloo has been on a drive to create awareness about the action towards achieving UN Global Goals. Previously, Maloo was awarded the REX Karam- Veer Chakra and also represented India as the 2041 Antarctic Youth Ambassador.
The 34-year-old describes himself as a ‘mountain-preneur’ on his social media profile. He is currently serving as the Regional Director (Asia-Pacific) and a VP at Seedstars.
